驚異の記憶力を持つ娘メグ
こんにちは！7歳の娘メグと6歳の自閉症の息子リョウを育ててる2児の父リュウです
今日は、メグの驚くべき記憶力についてお話ししたいと思います。
メグは小学校で「おがわ」という教科書を使っており、クラスの有志で暗唱のチャレンジをしています。そしてその暗唱に成功するとシールを貼ってもらえるというものです。
メグの暗唱チャレンジ
その暗唱をメグはクラスで一番に46作品全ての暗唱を終え、さらに暗唱用とは思えないような（先生にも「ここはやらなくて良いよ」とも言われたらしい…）3ページにもわたる作品の暗唱までやり遂げ、「おがわチャンピオン」の称号を獲得しました。
これだけでも素晴らしいのですが、本日さらに驚くべき出来事がありました。
驚きの瞬間：教科書を見ずに暗唱
現在メグには毎日の宿題として、教科書の1作品を音読するという課題があり、私や妻が毎日それを聞いています。
本日、メグが「きつねのおきゃくさま」という作品を音読している最中に、私は強烈な違和感を感じました。
メグを見ると、なんと教科書を全く見ずに作品を暗唱していたのです！
実に１０ページにもわたる作品をまるっと暗唱していました。
親としての驚きと感動
みなさん、想像してみてください。お子さんが毎日のように音読を続けている作品を、突然教科書を見ずにすらすらと暗唱し始める瞬間を。その驚きは、本当に言葉に尽くせません。
メグの記憶力には驚かされるばかりです。
教育と記憶力の関係
確かに話自体は似た物語が繰り返される部分もありますが、それでも１０ページの内容を全て覚えるのは大変なことです。メグには特別な教育を施しているわけではありませんが、どこからこのような能力が発揮されたのか、本当に不思議でなりません。
はなまる学習会の影響
メグは「はなまる学習会」に通っており、そこで優秀と言われていたことがありますが、「はなまる学習会」は非認知能力を高める塾のようなもので、計算能力や暗記能力にはあまり力を入れていないと思っていました。
それでも、そこで楽しく学ぶことが副次的にこのような能力の伸長につながっているのかもしれません。

子どもの成長を見守る喜び
さて、リョウは自閉症でまだうまくコミュニケーションを取ることが難しい一方、メグはクラスで一番くらいに賢いという面白い取り合わせです。
二人がどのような道をどのように成長していくのかはまだまだ分かりませんが、面白い人間に成長していってほしいと願っています。
このような子どもの成長の瞬間に立ち会えることは、親として非常に幸せなことです。また、メグのように特別な教育を受けていないのに驚くべき能力を発揮する子どもがいることを知り、教育や育児に関して新たな視点を持つことができました。

Today, I want to share about Megu’s remarkable memory.
Megu uses a textbook called “Ogawa” at her elementary school, and her class has a challenge where they recite passages. If they succeed, they receive stickers as a reward.
Megu’s Recitation Challenge
Megu was the first in her class to recite all 46 pieces and even memorized a three-page piece that wasn’t required for the challenge (her teacher even told her it wasn’t necessary). She earned the title of “Ogawa Champion.”
This in itself is amazing, but today something even more astonishing happened.
A Moment of Surprise: Reciting Without Looking at the Textbook
Megu has a daily homework assignment to read a passage from the textbook aloud, and my wife and I listen to her every day.
Today, while Megu was reading a piece called “The Fox’s Guest,” I felt a strong sense of something being off.
When I looked at Megu, I realized she wasn’t looking at the textbook at all and was reciting the piece from memory!
She recited the entire 10-page piece flawlessly.
Parental Surprise and Emotion
Imagine, if you will, your child suddenly reciting a passage they have been reading daily, without looking at the book. The surprise and emotion are indescribable.
Megu’s memory never ceases to amaze me.
The Relationship Between Education and Memory
While the stories are somewhat repetitive, memorizing 10 pages is no easy feat. We haven’t provided Megu with any special education, so I wonder where this ability comes from.
Influence of Hanamaru Learning Club
Megu attends “Hanamaru Learning Club,” where she’s been told she’s doing well. Hanamaru Learning Club focuses on non-cognitive skills, so I didn’t think they emphasized calculation or memorization abilities much.
However, it’s possible that the enjoyable learning environment there indirectly contributes to her memory skills.

The Joy of Watching Children Grow
Ryo, being autistic, still has difficulty communicating, while Megu is one of the brightest in her class. It’s an interesting mix.
We don’t know yet what paths they will take or how they will grow, but I hope they become interesting individuals.
Witnessing such moments of growth in my children is a great joy as a parent. Additionally, seeing a child like Megu, who hasn’t received special education but exhibits extraordinary abilities, has given me new perspectives on education and parenting.
